Bardstown Christmas Parade Thursday December 1st - 6 PM Ascension will be handing out hot chocolate and we will have folks on hand to hand out information about the upcoming holiday events as well as answer questions folks may have about the church.
Hanging of the Greens Saturday December 17th - 11 AM We will be decorating the church and breaking bread together at our annual hanging of the greens. This is always a lot of fun and we certainly welcome all volunteers.
1st Annual Christmas Concert Sunday December 18th - 4 PM "Festival of Lessons and Carols." We'll hear the scriptures read that foretell the birth of Christ, sing carols appropriate to the season, with perhaps some special music. Then, with wassail, hot cider, etc., and a cookie or two, we'll gather 'round the new grand piano with Hobie for some caroling of both secular and sacred music. Come, bring friends, and enjoy!
Christmas Eve Open House Saturday December 24th - 4 PM
Looking for a traditional, intimate Christmas Eve experience? Want to celebrate the true meaning of Christmas in a special way?
Join us for a Christmas Eve Open House, where you can enjoy complimentary fresh baked goods, hot chocolate and cider, Christmas music and the sights and smells of Christmas.
Everyone is welcome from 4:00 until 10:00 PM on Christmas Eve with a child-friendly family service at 5:30 and a traditional candlelit Christmas Eve Communion service at 10 PM.
The 5:30 PM service will include an interactive Childrens Christmas Story, Christmas carols, and a special Childrens Sermon. Afterwards, St. Nicholas will pay each child a visit.
The 10 PM service will be a traditional candlelit Christmas Communion service, in our beautifully-decorated worship space, with special music by the church choir. Child care will be available at both services.
We will be here to answer any questions you may have or simply wish you a Merry Christmas!
Ascension strongly believes that everyone deserves a place to worship and we hope you take this opportunity to visit our wonderful and historic church building and perhaps stay for one of our services. Whether you attend worship regularly, occasionally, or never, Ascension is here for you this Christmas.
